Rolf Structural Integration

About Rolf Structural Integration

Dr. Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D., developed Rolf Structural Integration. It is a form of manual soft tissue manipulation and movement education based on aligning segments of the body (head, torso, pelvis, legs) with each other in the larger field of gravity. This results in greatly increased freedom of movement, better balance, improved physiology, and enhanced proprioception and coordination.

As this process continues over time, posture and balance improve, flexibility and efficiency of movement increase and discomfort and pain decrease.

Rolf Structural Integration for Children

Rolf Structural Integration can enhance the developmental and maturation process that is already taking place in childhood. At the time when children are forming their movement patterns and postural habits we can facilitate a more balanced structure and integrated movements. This type of work can be beneficial for most children.

These include: growing pains, injury, scoliosis, lordosis, balance, coordination, strength, developmental delay and Cerebral Palsy .
